DB news:

Huge fun at the fourth Cool Blue review June 28 at the White Eagle.
Greg Thelen and Sketchy Ted put in great sets, and the DBs had a blast
with trumpet player Cliff Jetton sitting in.

We've been concentrating on finishing (finally) the new studio CD.
Margot goes in for tendonitis sugery in early June, so we're not adding new shows

while we await her rapid recovery.

We do, however have one show booked for summer '08.
Margot will be along to sing, and Cliff Jetton will be sitting in on trumpet.
Details below, hope to see you there!

The band returns to The White Eagle Saloon, Saturday June 28
for the forth installment of the Cool Blue Review with Greg Thelen and Sketchy Ted.

We had great fun at the all acoustic concert April 19, with our
amazing friends James Faretheewell and Tyler Stenson at
Artichoke Music Backgate Stage
, on SE Hawthorne in Portland.

The March 16 benefit for the Red Ape Reserve at The Oregon Zoo was a
huge success, exceeding their fund raising goals and a ton of fun for the band.

The band did a photo shoot with Portland photographer John Klicker.
Sample above, more shots can be seen in the Gallery to the left.

The February Cool Blue Review exceeded our expectations with a capacity crowd (thanks to Tyler Stenson & Lander!) and great sets from all three bands.

The first Cool Blue Review of '08 at The White Eagle was huge fun, with great sets from
James Faretheewell, The DBs and Vivid Curve.

We're making a lot of progress on the new CD, which is turning out to be a lot of fun.

The Dead Beetles are now a quartet! John and George have been rehearsing with
drummer Casey McBride and further integrating Margot Monti on flutes, clarintets and vocals.
The new sound is bigger, more dynamic and exciting!
Look for more info, pix and audio of the new band here soon.

What, you may ask, do The Dead Beetles sound like?

Well, imagine John Lennon and George Harrison descending from Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven. Then imagine, if you will, that they assemble an all-star band to play their Labor Day Party in the Hamptons, calling on Spinal Tap, Steely Dan, Was Not Was, Doc Watson, NRBQ, Tenacious D, Beck, The Mothers Of Invention, and Jellyfish. Now, imagine Walter Becker losing $34k to Nigel Tufnel, playing poker on the tour bus.

Ok, now stop imagining all that stuff and instead, imagine Portland’s John Reynolds (guitar, vocals) and George Turner (bass, cello, vocals) frolicking with you and all your loved ones in a pristine, sunlit meadow.

This is the sound of The Dead Beetles!

So geez…what are you waiting for? Go buy our CDs and come to our super fun shows!
